[ he doesn't feel like a real king. an uncrowned king, maybe. there is little home to return to, lucians now scattered here and there. his father is gone, their families are gone. he almost isn't sure how luna can have such steadfast confidence in him in his abilities when their world is full of so much uncertainty.
but that is how she has been even when he was eight and a little bit ( a lot ) in love with her and everything he believed her to be. maybe there is something to it. he had negotiated with claustra and he had made it this far. he cannot complete this mission set before him without believing in himself.
his heartbeat is steadier now, still a touch jittery if only because he is holding lunafreya in his arms like he has wanted to for years. the simplest action still makes him feel like a teenage boy. as for her question, there is so much to do for the kingdom and for the world. he wants unity. he wants to take down borders. he wants to marry her. ]
Take you to the carnival.
[ not the answer of a king, but it is the answer of one singular noctis lucis caelum, now grinning stupidly to himself. ]
[ Lunafreya will always have confidence in him. In her eyes, Noctis can do no wrong -- whatever steps he takes, whatever decisions he makes, she is here to back him up until the very end. To lend a hand and help shoulder some of his burdens is her job, after all. Not just as Oracle, but as friend and future wife. She wants to offer him support in every way possible in whatever way she can, whether that be lifting his spirits, giving him a shoulder to cry and mourn on, to be a voice of reason, to an ear to vent to... whatever he needs from her, she will gladly give it to him to the best of her abilities.
Eyes remaining closed, she offers a soft, pleased hum as her index finger lightly draws all sorts of obscure shapes and patterns against the front of his shirt just next to where her head rests against his chest. For the umpteenth time since she's awakened, she can feel herself beginning to smile; his answer may not be the answer of a king, but it is genuinely him and she honestly prefers that to any sort of stiff, formal response. Noctis is the most genuine, true person she's ever met, even when they were children. He'd promised her back then he'd purge the Starscourge, and look at him now. This may not be the most ideal way to do it, but even through thick and thin, through his losses and hardships, he is pressing through and keeping his promise.
Noctis never ceases to amaze her, and she doubts he's ever going to stop. ]
That sounds like fun... embarrassingly, I've never been to one. But I have read about them. Is that a date then?
[ There's a playful lilt to her voice as she finally opens her eyes and peers up at him; this subject is so light and airy and wonderful and pleasant, and it fills her with pure, unadulterated joy and hope. Not to mention any time he grins like that, she melts a little; he looks so handsome and she wishes he'd do it more often. Perhaps in time, after things settle down, she can start finding ways to make him smile. ]
